Future Fragments is a side scroller – I love games like this! Anyone who’s played titles like Super Mario, Double Dragon, Shovel Knight and associated games will know exactly what they’re in for here. Again, selection here is done using the Z key: at which point the first room will load up and you’ll finally be able to play.
Smash the ‘New Game’ button and you’ll have the choice of normal or easy – since I’m a hardcore gamer, I’m going for the normal option. What’s slightly strange to me is that the text looks great, but the images on the screen – well let’s just say that they’re incredibly low in the resolution department. A low-resolution cinematic will boot up with has some text explaining the origins of the story and why you find yourself in the position that you’re currently in. You’ll then have to hit Z again, and again, before the game begins. Once you’re done reading the splash screen, hit the Z button on your keyboard to continue through to the thank-you message and a little bit of additional focus on what the game is about. Still, I’ll be playing it in Chrome – I don’t want to mess around and be blasted in the ass half-way through my review with a crash or a glitch! Playing Future Fragments Chrome or Firefox is recommended, although I did notice that it worked fine in my version of Opera.
